Turquoise class have been comparing the treatment of animals over time. Last week they looked at comparsions with the Stone and Bronze ages, where animals were mostly killed for food, clothing and shelter – to the Victorian times and to today.
They found that the Victorians regularly stuffed animals (taxidermy) to hang on their walls. To show wealth, Victorians had rare animals stuffed. Nowadays, rare animals are protected and you would be breaking the law if you killed one. Taxidermy, however, is still not illegal – some people have their pets stuffed!.
