Parent Governor Statement
Child’s Name: Miriam Marlee-Collins (Indigo Class)
I am standing for election as a parent governor because:
I am a parent of Miriam, currently Year 5 and Norah who will be joining Reception in 2021.
I liked Kelvin Grove from the day we visited and were first choosing a school for Miriam. Through the years, I’ve continued to be impressed with the way the school is run and especially how the teachers and staff work to create an environment that supports the children to learn and develop as they grow up together. Of course, there are ups and downs, but whenever there’s been an issue, everyone has shown how genuinely concerned they are to resolve problems working together with the children.
I’ve been running my own business for more than 10 years and in my work as a creative consultant, I help organisations develop ideas, strategies and new ways of working to help them address challenges and perform better. I’m standing for election as governor because I’d like to share my experience to help the school address the challenges it faces now and over the next four years. After 2020, who knows what the future might bring?!
I’m working part-time and from home, so live and work close to the school to be as connected as I need to be. I’m opinionated, but very open to listening to different views and enjoy working with others. I would bring that to the team and do whatever I need to fulfil my responsibilities as a governor, help make sure the school is delivering against policies and goals and get done what’s needed for the school to continue to thrive.
