Dear Reception Parents/Carers,
Re: Forest School up until Easter
Now that this Lockdown is over, we are now really hoping that we can get going with Forest School for all Reception children from the week commencing 8th March. Between now and the Easter break there is an opportunity for one session for each class, with the hope that it will become part of the regular weekly routine from the Summer term onwards.
Each class will be divided into two groups, A and B. Your child will be in Group A which means that your child’s Forest School date between now and Easter will be as per the table below:
Group A Forest School
Orchid – Wednesday 10th March
Magenta – Wednesday 17th March
Cerise – Wednesday 24th March
Forest School happens in all weathers (rain or shine) and because the children are encouraged to explore our outdoor site for themselves, (e.g. digging, making mud pies, hunting for sticks or building shelters etc.) they are likely to get a bit mucky. In order for children to take a full and active part, please make sure that on their Forest School day your child comes to school adequately clothed.
We recommend that they come to school dressed in:
- Long sleeved T-shirt /top, trousers, socks, and an extra sweater/ sweat-shirt if it is cold
And that they bring to school:
- Wellington (rubber) boots or suitable outdoor shoes in a named bag, spare socks, waterproof coat / jacket and gloves if it is cold.
If you do not have any of these, please let us know in advance as we can arrange to have spare sets of these items available. The school will provide waterproof trousers, but if you have your own it would be helpful if children could bring these too.
If your child’s Forest School session is on a PE day, please send your child to school dressed for Forest School, but with their trainers with Velcro fastenings (unless they know how to tie their laces themselves!)
Meanwhile, if you have any questions about Forest School then please do not hesitate to talk to Mr Murray (Reception) or your class teacher after school.
Yours faithfully,
The Reception Team
