Tuesday 16th March 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have had a fantastic week back, our attendance was over 97%. I had walked around the whole school by half past nine on the first morning back and children were focussed on learning, sitting beautifully on the carpet, listening to teachers or at desks getting on, chatting, sharing or working independently. Our children are brilliant, resilient and capable of anything.
Ongoing Covid Measures
I must remind you however that this is a return to school where Covid is still a major concern for the nation. We still have a number of safety measure which must remain in place.
In general start and finish times are well established and thank you for your support with this. Please continue to wear masks. I must remind you, however, that if any member of a household develops any symptoms of Covid then you must not send children to school until the result of a test is received. Sometimes parents are calling the office for advice as to whether a test is necessary but the answer will always be ‘Yes’ if there are any symptoms.
If a member of a household receives a positive result the whole household must isolate for ten days. The school should be informed so that home learning can be arranged as quickly as possible.
In the event of us having to close a class or a year group bubble, learning will be provided initially in the form of a learning pack and then online (Seesaw or Tapestry) after 48 hours.
Seesaw will be used as part of our weekly home learning from after Easter. Children will be set a range of activities to enrich their knowledge of the wider curriculum areas they are studying. Please do not use Seesaw as a way of sending messages to your class teacher, unless it is part of the submission of your child’s work. This is because Seesaw will not be checked on a daily basis and your message will be missed. Contact the office in the usual way, or speak to a member of the senior leadership team at the school gates.
Virtual Parents’ Evening
We will be holding a Virtual Parents’ Evening on 21st and 22nd April, immediately after the Easter Break. A booking system similar to the one normally used will be available on the website. We will send a link next week.
Reminders
We will be working hard to improve the school environment over the next few months. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic space to develop! Please do your bit by being extra careful with litter, do not smoke around the school premises, especially at gates and, (I shouldn’t have to say this), but neighbours have pointed out that young children are being allowed to urinate against fences and walls around school. This is not acceptable. Please ask at the office and young children will be allowed to use toilets in the school
Clubs
We are hoping to start some extra curricular clubs after Easter where we can use outdoor spaces. Please bear with us as we will introduce these gradually over the Summer term.
End of Term and Finish times.
On the last day of term, Wednesday 31st March, school will finish at the following times:
- Nursery: 1.20 pm
- Cerise/Magenta: 1.30 pm
- Orchid: 1.20 pm
- Year 1: 1.35 pm ‐ 1.45 pm
