As the academic year draws to a close, the children in Mint class have been writing biographies on Floella Benjamin. The children have spent an extensive time researching her life, career and achievements. Did you know that she once wanted to be a teacher herself? She lived some of her childhood years in Penge and Beckenham.
Further to this, as part of the Windrush topic the children have designed Windrush logos and created a ‘monoprint’ of them. This is very similar to drawing except it needs to be done carefully as lines can only be drawn once and cannot be changed.
As the summer draws to an end we have also had a few celebratory events with our ‘Sports Day’. Here the children were able to showcase the athletic skills they have been learning throughout this year on top of friendly competition and great sportsmanship. The children have encouraged, motivated and supported each other while having a good time.
The afternoon was the icing on the cake, when the children of Mint class put on the ‘Rock Steady Concert’ for the rest of the year group. What rock stars they were! The children have had so much fun and have done so well this academic year and deserve a well-earned summer break.
