Dear Year 2 Parents and Carers,
Friday 17th September 2021: Year 2 trip to Horniman Museum
Welcome back! This term our topic is all about the Arctic and Antarctic. We are calling it, “Pole to Pole”, and it gives us the opportunity to explore lots about the world, different cultures, habitats and creatures. We realise that this is short notice, but we have been offered a last minute opportunity to take part in an interactive workshop at the Horniman Museum next week. During the visit the children will have a chance to explore objects made by the Inuit, as well as visiting other parts of the museum and, weather permitting, the museum gardens.
Your child can either bring a packed lunch from home, or if they are entitled to free school meals (benefits related) a packed lunch can be provided by the school. Please indicate your choice below. Packed lunches should not contain fizzy drinks, sweets or nuts (due to pupil allergies). We will be eating lunch in the schools’ lunch room at the museum. Children should wear their school uniform and comfortable shoes, as we will be walking to and from the museum.
There is a cost for parents of £3.00 per child for this trip, which will cover the cost of the workshop at the Horniman. Please complete the link below as soon as possible, giving your child permission to go to the Horniman Museum. Please pay the cost of the trip on ‘Pay 360’ (previously known as SIMs Pay) by Wednesday 15th September.
For the trip to go ahead, we will need a small number of parent volunteers to come with us to support the children. We will be leaving the school at 9.30am and returning by 2.15pm. If you are available to lend a hand, please indicate this below.
If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
