Re: Year 2 Curriculum – Autumn 1 2021
Welcome to Year 2! Below we have outlined some key information regarding this term that we hope you will find useful.
Curriculum Meeting
We would like to invite you to join us for our Curriculum Meeting where we will share information regarding Year 2 and this term. This will be held on Tuesday 21st September at 3:30pm in the Main Hall. We hope to see you there.
Curriculum
Our topic this term is ‘Pole to Pole’. We will be focusing our learning in English and topic lessons on two texts: The Great Explorer by Chris Judge and Beegu by Alexis Deacon. In Maths our main focus will be on place value.
Daily Reading
Children will bring home two reading books a week:
- A book banded book suitable to your child’s reading ability, which they need to read aloud to an adult.
- A book corner book which they have chosen themselves, which can be read together or by them.
Please read with your child daily. Children’s books will be changed every Thursday so please ensure they are returned to school.
P.E. Lessons
Your child will be wearing their PE kits all day so please ensure they have the appropriate kit (white T-shirt, dark bottoms), including trainers/plimsols on Mondays each week.
Uniform
Encourage your child to wear full school uniform and ensure they have a coat appropriate for the weather. It is important that your child does not wear jewellery (unless it is for religious reasons) apart from stud earrings.
Other information
Please ensure your child brings to school a filled and labelled water bottle each day.
