WhatsApp can be a very quick and easy way for large groups to communicate. We have set up this group to make communication easier between the whole class. To make this successful, the school asks everyone to follow this code of conduct:
- Respect the purpose and objective of this WhatsApp group.
- Don’t share irrelevant messages about other topics. If you find you’re having a chat with 1 or 2 members of the group, consider changing the conversation to direct messages. The item may not be of interest to the rest of the group.
- Please don’t swear or use abusive language. Please don’t send photos of children over this WhatsApp group.
- Please don’t use this WhatsApp group to be critical of the school, teaching staff, other parents or children. If you have genuine concerns about any of these areas, please contact the school directly.
- Before sending a video, picture, meme or any content, please consider if the material will be of interest to the majority of the members of the group.
- No arguments or heated opinions please. Never use the group to berate someone or air grievances. If things get heated please shut the discussion down and suggest talking face-to-face. WhatsApp isn’t the place to discuss complex or lengthy issues as tone and meaning can be misconstrued over messages.
- Please don’t use the group to discuss incidents that have happened at school involving your children.
- Please bear in mind that people respond to messages in different ways. Some people reply very quickly. Others may read the message but not answer instantly
- Please don’t send excessive amounts of acknowledgement or “thank you” messages. It generates extra messages for the whole group.
- Please don’t be offended if others leave the group. Not everyone wants the same information.
- If you feel uncomfortable in the group for any reason, please feel free to leave or speak to the administrator or someone at the school about your concerns.
