Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Groove School Launch at Kelvin Grove
Congratulations!
I’m very happy to tell you that you have a place on your chosen instrument at Groove School!
I say you as I am addressing both the parents and the children here, as you will be responsible for both the instrument and the practice routine.
We will engender the Musicians Values of Listening, Mutual Respect and Hard Work. Expectations of both behaviour and practice will be set very high.
PROGRESS
Parents, please take an interest in your child’s progress. Commend them when they make progress. Encourage them to perform to you. Listen to them playing and talk to them about their progress. Your support will be invaluable.
There is no short cut to musical greatness, and musical greatness is absolutely achievable. Fun and musical greatness are the goals here.
If your child does not practise they will not progress and they will not get the full benefit of what Groove School is offering.
The expectation is that your child will practise 5 times a week (term time) for a minimum of 10 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes.
We will be commending and publicly rewarding those children who achieve this, but they will need your help and support.
The first session will be held on Thursday 20th January for 10 weeks finishing on Thursday 31st March.
All sessions will be held from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Please collect your child promptly at 5:00 pm from the KG Reception.

3) Song Writing: using riff and rhythms learned in 1 & 2, the children will use GarageBand and MuseScore to compose their own songs.
GUITARISTS – If you have your own guitar, please bring it to Mr Glenn as soon as possible so that he can set it up and tune it.
If you do not have a guitar, we will be providing you with a Groove School Guitar.
FIFE & FLAUTIST – You will be given a Groove School Fife, which is yours to keep.
When you are ready to move to the full size Orchestral Flute we will make arrangements for you to have use of a school instrument.
