Dear Parents and Carers of Year 6 pupils,
RE: Year 6 Bikeability Scheme – Monday 17th January to Friday 21st January
We are pleased to announce that the Year 6 Bikeability Scheme has been rescheduled and will now be running the week of 17th January. This scheme teaches children about using their bikes safely on the road over the course of five school days for short sessions. The service is provided by Lewisham Council at no cost to individual families. There are spaces for 24 children from the year group to take part.
In order to take part, your child must meet the following criteria:
- Be able to ride a bike confidently
- Own or have access to an appropriately-sized roadworthy bicycle that they can use for the week. Please note that the scheme owners are unable to provide bikes.
- Own or have access to a suitably fitting cycle helmet.
As a significant amount of time has passed since the scheme was originally offered, we will be restarting the sign up process. If you would like your child to take part in Bikeability during Year 6, please return the slip to your child’s registration teacher as soon as possible – spaces will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that as the course is run by outside instructors, we require the highest standards of behaviour from children and we will take this into consideration when selecting children for the scheme.
Please return the form no later than this Friday, 7th January. If you have any questions, please see your child’s registration teacher.
Thank you,
Year 6 team
