We have had a wonderful start to the new term. We have started out new book ‘Errol’s Garden’ which links to our topic ‘Growing’. We have loved finding out about Errol and his roof top garden. This has inspired to us to start thinking about where we could create our own garden in the cerise class playground.
We have begun to write lists of items we may need for our garden. We have been trying to think of creative things to plant our seeds in, such as wellies, pans and cups. Just like Errol, we have tried to imagine what our ideal garden would include. We have drawn our own gardens and written sentences to describe them.
We have used the story to create our small world area. Together we created a small roof garden and Errol’s flat. One of us suggested we create a lift to go up and down in the flats, like some of us have in our own homes. Using the junk modelling and our creative skills we made lifts for our small world toys.
Maths this week has been great fun as we are beginning to explore weight. We have started to look at using scales and seesaws to help us understand heavier and lighter.
