RE: Year 6 – Lewisham Citizen Scheme Trip – Tuesday 15th March 2022
Dear parents and carers of Year 6 pupils,
We have secured a place on the Lewisham Junior Citizen Scheme on Tuesday 15th March 2022, which is a multi-agency event designed especially for Year 6 pupils. There will be a number of groups there offering key safety advice including the London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, St John Ambulance, Transport for London, Lewisham Road Safety and Drugs Education specialists, to name but a few. Our pupils will attend each interactive scenario to learn about the many ways that they can stay safe.
Children need to arrive at school for 7:45am. We will be leaving school promptly at 8:00am, taking the 122 or 202 bus to Lee Green Fire Station and returning in time for lunch. Please ensure that your child arrives at school on time as we will not be able to wait for latecomers.
Children will need a healthy snack (no nuts, chocolate bars or sharing bags of crisps please) and a carton drink that can be disposed of. They will take this with them to have mid-morning. This will need to be in a small bag that is separate to their school bag and packed lunch as they will be carrying these items themselves on the bus. There is no cost for this trip.
As the trip is on a Tuesday, please ensure that your child is wearing a school P.E. kit (red Kelvin Grove jumper, white T-shirt or polo shirt, plain dark tracksuit bottoms and trainers). Please note that due to the nature of the event and as we are travelling on public transport, we are unable to take children who are not wearing school uniform. Your child will also need an appropriate coat for the weather. They will need their school bag as normal and if they are packed lunch, they should bring this in their normal packed lunch bag. They will eat lunch in the school dinner hall as usual.
We ask that the slip below is completed and returned to your child’s registration teacher by Tuesday 8th March.
Thank you,
Year 6 team
