Dear Year 5 and 6 parents and carers,
RE: Toys From Home
Recently, an increasing number of children have been bringing toys and games into school, such as Pokémon cards, miniature skateboards, Rubik’s cubes and fidget toys. These items are causing distractions in class as well as issues on the playground. Children are sharing or swapping items which is leading to disagreements that can be time-consuming and difficult to resolve.
To prevent these issues, children will no longer be allowed to bring toys into school. We have discussed this with the children in our weekly assembly and from next week these items will be taken if they are seen in school and returned at the end of the day. If a child continues to bring in items from home, we will ask for an adult to collect them from the office.
Any items that are used for learning needs (i.e. fidget toys or small pieces of sticky tack) will be allowed as long as this is known to the school or discussed with the class teacher.
Thank you for your support,
The Year 5 and 6 Team
