Dear Parents and carers,
RE: Y2 Trip to Near and Far London – Monday 27th June 2022
As part of this term’s topic ‘Near and Far’, comparing localities in England and Kenya, all Y2 classes will be travelling into central London to complete some geography fieldwork. Children will investigate land use, building height and transport.
The trip will be on Monday 27th June 2022. We will walk to Sydenham Station, take the train to London Bridge and walk along the pedestrianised zones of The Southbank, where we will stop for lunch.
After lunch, we will continue walking along The Southbank to The London Eye and Houses of Parliament. We will then get the train from Waterloo East, changing at London Bridge and back to Sydenham. We will return to school before the end of the school day. If we are delayed for any reason, the school office will contact you via text message.
The children will be doing a lot of walking during the day and will need to wear full school uniform and trainers or appropriate walking footwear (please no sandals, wellies or open shoes).
Children will need to bring a sun hat, wear sun cream or bring a waterproof coat, depending on the weather forecast for the day. Can we suggest that children bring a small rucksack or bag, if you have one, so that they can carry their lunch and a refillable water bottle.
For this trip to go ahead we will need at least 3 parent helpers per class. The ratio of adults to children for school trips in KS1 is 1:6 so we need at least 5 adults per class. If we do not get the support we need from parent helpers, the trip will not be able to go ahead.
There is no cost to parents for this trip.
Your child will require a healthy packed lunch, which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets or NUTS (due to allergies).
You can provide your own ‘homemade’ packed lunch or pre-order a ‘school’ packed lunch, please can you indicate your choice via the below eform before Monday 13th June 2022.
Thank you for your continued support
The Y2 Team
