Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Nursery curriculum – Summer 2, 2022
Welcome to Summer 2 Term at Nursery!
Welcome back! The children will be beginning their final term at Nursery and we plan to make this a fun and exciting one! We will be focusing on preparing the children for their transition into Reception, so that September will be as smooth as possible.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you, for all your support in helping us develop confident young explorers and learners, ready to move onto their next adventure at ‘Big School!’

Letters of the Week
We will be introducing the children to Letters of the week, in preparation for Phase 2 Phonics in Reception. We will be exploring the letter sounds through exploration of objects and games. We will be continuing to explore Rhyme through singing and playing rhyme games.
We would like to continue to encourage all parents to access the Phonics Play website and explore the Phase 1 games. To access the website please this login – username: kelvin / password: grove.
Library
Library will continue as Summer 1, with books being changed on a Thursday. This half term your child will be bringing home 2 books, one will continue to be a picture book they have chosen to share with their family at home and the other will be a reading book. Please note, that these reading books may not contain words initially as these are designed to encourage children to tell their own story; a key key pre-reading skill.
As always, we appreciate the time you spend reading and sharing their library books with them at home. Thank you!
Nursery Sessions
We would like to remind parents how important it is that your child is here for the start of the session every day. Morning session begins at 8.45am and the afternoon at 12.30pm. The gate is staffed for 5 minutes after opening times and then after this, it is locked.
Summer Weather
As the weather is warming up, please ensure that your child comes to nursery with a named summer hat and sun cream on as we will continue with our outdoor play. Please ensure your child is always wearing suitable shoes for nursery i.e. trainers or shoe shoes and not unsuitable sandals in the hot weather. Thank you!
