This term, we began a new text for English – ‘Varjak Paw’. We have read three chapters so far and today we had to write a letter to Varjak, persuading him to either leave the Contessa’s house, or stay, making sure that we give reasons and explain them carefully. Mr Gough wanted us to use modal verbs in our writing, and subordinating conjunctions as we are working hard to write complex sentences.
In Mr Gough’s Maths group, we have been bringing together all of the times tables learning that we’ve done this year to help us be able to identify multiples and factors. It is important to identify factors in pairs and to work systematically.
We also completed our Multiplication Tables Check this morning. Mr Gough said that he is extremely proud of how much progress we have made with our multiplication and related division facts this year and we look forward to building on our times table recall as we progress into Upper KS2 in the next academic year.
We have also began our ‘Take One Artist 2022’ work. We have learnt facts about Yayoi Kusama and created a double page spread in our sketch books, where we recorded some of the information that we have learnt about her life and we sketched some of her paintings. She is known for including dots and infinity nets in her artwork and this afternoon, we have practised her work for inspiration, to help us create our own. We hope you like our photos!
