Turquoise Class have made a good start to the year. On Monday, we discussed our expectations for the year and created a class charter, which highlights what we all need to do to achieve success in Year 4, and signed it.
Our topic this term is ‘Let there be Light!’ and in English, we have begun our learning which is based around an animation called ‘The Lighthouse’. We began by making predictions about the setting, plot and the characters. We then looked at creating an atmosphere, using fronted adverbials, adjectives and ‘show not tell’ sentences to engage the reader.
In Maths, we have reviewed Year 3 place value objectives and we are now counting in 1000s, and working hard to use the correct vocabulary when explaining what we are doing.
This term in RE, we are learning about Judaism. We learnt about Shabbat, which is a holy day of rest. We learnt that Jewish people spend time as a family to eat, pray and socialise. Did you know that on Shabbat, the Jewish community are not allowed to do any work? They have to get everything done before the sun sets on Friday. They are not allowed to use their phones, play on game consoles or do any cooking. They’re not even allowed to homework which we couldn’t believe.
