RE: Year 1 – Online book reading
We have recently purchased Collins Big Cat books to support the teaching of reading at school. This new scheme provides us with fully decodable books that closely match the phonics taught in class. The books your child/children will read at home will match the book they’re reading in class. This is to support your child to read confidently, with fluency and understanding.
This year we have moved to online texts – this is to manage many pupils needing the same text at the same time. To get this up and running, we have assigned the same book to every child to see whether you are able to access it on an android, Apple or computer device at home. This first book will be a wordless book and is just there to test the system works for you.
We have attached your child’s log in details and an explanation of how to access the books. If you are unable to access the book for any reason, please speak directly to your child’s class teacher. This will help us to solve any problems so we can get the system up and running smoothly.
