Thursday 29th September 2022
Dear Year 2 parents and Carers,
RE: Year 2 Trip to London Transport Museum – Thursday 20th October
As part of this term’s topic ‘Moving with the Times’, looking at changes in transport in London, we will be going to visit The London Transport Museum. Children will complete a self-guided tour of the museum, using the artefacts to answer our depth enquiry question: ‘How has transport in London changed over time?’.
The trip will be on Thursday 20th October 2022. We will walk to Sydenham station, take the train to London Bridge and change trains to Charing Cross. We will walk from Charing Cross station to The London Transport Museum. We will return to school before the end of the school day. If we are delayed for any reason, the school office will contact you via text message.
There is no cost to parents for this trip.
The children will be doing a lot of walking during the day and will need to wear full school uniform and trainers or appropriate walking footwear (please no sandals, wellies or open shoes). Children will need to bring a bring a waterproof and warm coat with a hood. We suggest that children bring a rucksack or bag, if you have one, so that they can carry their lunch and a refillable water bottle.
For this trip to go ahead we will need at least 3 parent helpers per class. If you are able to accompany Year 2 on the trip as a parent helper, please speak to your child’s class teacher or email year2@kelvingrove.lewisham.sch.uk
The ratio of adults to children for school trips in KS1 is 1:6 so we need at least 5 adults per class. If we do not get the support we need from parent helpers, we are afraid the trip will not be able to go ahead.
Children in KS1 are entitled to a free school meal so please can you complete the order for your child’s lunch below, if you would like to order please complete the pre order from below by Thursday 6th October 2022.
If lunch orders are received after this date, the school kitchen won’t receive the lunch order.
Please respond promptly to the slip below.
Thank you for your continued support,
Y2 team.
