Dear Year 6 parents and carers,
RE: Year 6 Residential Trip to France – May 2023
As mentioned at the Year 6 curriculum meeting, we are really excited to be able to re-instate our Year 6 residential trip to France.
Date: Monday 22nd May 2023 – Friday 26th May 2023 inclusive (5 days; 4 nights)
Location: Normandy, France
Who: Year 6 pupils only
Cost: £360 per pupil
Our trip is being facilitated by Travel bound: a company that specialises in organising residential trips abroad for schools. The children will be accompanied on this trip by their Year 6 teachers and members of staff from Kelvin Grove. As part of our itinerary, the children will enjoy a number of rich cultural experiences including: a visit to Mont St Michel, Arromanches town (including the beach), a chocolate factory (including tasting!), shopping for ingredients at a traditional French market and then preparing lunch with what they’ve bought. They will also view the historic Bayeux Tapestry. As well as this, the children will have the invaluable opportunity to practise their spoken French and to use foreign currency. We will stay together in a beautiful historic house called Chateau du Molay. We will help to prepare the children for the trip through their curriculum French lessons.
The school is subsidising each child’s place so we are pleased to be able to offer the trip at the same cost it was prior to the pandemic in 2019. In addition to this, we are to be able to further subsidise children who are in receipt of Free School Meals (Pupil premium). If you wish to secure your child’s place, we require a deposit of £40 to be paid via PAY360 by Friday 21st October 2022. Having said this, we do not want finances to impede any child going who would like to attend, as such, please come and speak to Mr Hyde in confidence about financing the trip should you need to.
A short meeting has been arranged for Friday 14th October after school at 3:30pm to tell you more about this trip. We highly encourage you to come. Please let us know if you will be attending.
Yours sincerely,
Year 6 team
