Tuesday 11th October 2022
Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Year 1 Toys and Puppets around the world Workshop
To launch our ‘Toys R Us’ topic, Year 1 will visit Horniman Museum to take part in an educational workshop.
- Apricot Class will visit on Monday 31st October 2022
- Amber Class will visit on Tuesday 1st November 2022
- Coral Class will visit on Friday 4th November 2022
The children will have the opportunity to explore the mechanisms, materials, and uses of toys: from a Zimbabwean push-along drummer, to a Russian pendulum toy, to Guatemalan worry dolls, and use a transforming doll to tell the story of Little Red Riding Hood together.
All classes will leave school at approximately 9.30 to walk to the museum. We will have some time before the museum opens to explore the garden and observe signs of Autumn as part of our learning regarding seasonal changes.
As we will be walking to the museum as well as spending time in the gardens, please make sure that your child brings a waterproof coat, a hat and gloves if it is cold. Children should wear the shoes that they normally wear to school, provided they are sturdy and comfortable.
Children will eat their lunch at the Horniman so please make sure they bring a clearly labelled packed lunch with them or request a school packed lunch on the slip below.
The trip costs £3.00 per child and payment can be paid via PAY360/TRIPS.
If you have any difficulty accessing PAY360 please call the school office and a member of the team can help you.
Please complete the slip below by Friday 14th October, any lunch orders placed after this date will not be accepted.
Thank you,
The Year 1 Team
