Dear Parents and Carers of Year 3 pupils,
RE: Year 3 Curriculum – Autumn 2, 2022
Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful break. Below we have outlined some key information regarding this term that we hope you will find useful.
Curriculum
Our topic this term is ‘Light Fantastic!’. In English, we will be focussing on an animation that follows an inventor’s journey to create an eco-friendly source of light and the book Sulwe by Lupito Nyong’o. In Maths, our main focus will be on the short column method for addition and subtraction and using dienes and place value counters to support this.
Daily Reading
- Children will be set a text to read each week on the Collins Big Cat ebooks website. This is required reading for children in Miss Nandhra’s group and additional for other children.
- Children will choose a book to take home each week. They can also read books they already have at home or from their local library.
Please read with your child daily and record this in their reading record. Children’s books will be changed on Thursday.
P.E. Lessons
Your child will be wearing their PE kits all day so please ensure they have the appropriate kit (white T-shirt, dark bottoms), including trainers/plimsols on Tuesdays each week.
Uniform
Encourage your child to wear full school uniform and ensure they have a coat appropriate for the weather. It is important that your child does not wear jewellery (unless it is for religious reasons) apart from stud earrings. Please ensure their coats and jumpers are labelled with their names. This helps greatly with reuniting misplaced items with their owners.
Other information
Please ensure your child brings to school a filled and labelled water bottle each day.
Thank you for all your support, and as always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
