Dear Parents and Carers,
Re: Driving on Dallas Road
This week there have been three separate complaints of dangerous driving on Dallas Road which leads to the Year 2 gate. On all three occasions parents and children felt shaken, upset and unsafe walking that last stretch to school. In addition to this, a parked car was damaged by another car driving too quickly.
As a community we all understand the necessity to keep our children and our families safe. Between the times of 8:30am and 8:50am everyone who is dropping their child off on that road knows that the road will be busy with parents and small children walking to school. The same applies to the collection point at 3:10pm – 3:25pm.
There is no need to drive around the corner of Dallas Road at speed, nor to drive right up to the school gates where often there are parents and children standing. Please be aware as you turn that corner that there will be parents and children in the road as the pathway is too narrow for all Year 2 pupils and many pupils from other year groups, in particular Year 1 – some of our youngest children.
Please can we all make a concerted effort to drive safely. If you need to drive on that road to drop your child off, drive very slowly and do not accelerate up to the gates.
If you see others driving dangerously near your children, we would suggest you call the police.
As a school we are looking into further measures we can put in place to ensure the safety of our children.
Thank you as always for your continued support.
