Dear Year 6 parents and carers,
RE: Year 6 Curriculum – Summer 1, 2023
We hope that your children have had a relaxing and restful Easter break and are ready for a busy and productive summer term.
As you are fully aware, the children have been working extremely hard towards their SATs. Every school day between now and then is vitally important and we appreciate your support in ensuring that your child is in school every day and on time. Below is the timetable of tests that the children will be sitting. All tests will start immediately after morning registration. These dates and times have been set nationally and cannot be changed for individual schools or pupils; therefore, all Year 6 children need to be present during this week and on time.
Tuesday 9th May 2023 – Grammar Paper and Spelling Paper
Wednesday 10th May 2023 – Reading Paper
Thursday 11th May 2023 – Maths Arithmetic Paper 1 & Maths Reasoning Paper 2
Friday 12th May 2023 – Maths Reasoning Paper 3
Curriculum:
Our topic this term is called ‘Shocks and Scares!’, with a focus on suspense writing in English and electricity as our science learning. Below is our mind map which shows all the learning that will be covered this term.

PE Lessons:
Due to the bank holidays, our PE timetable will be slightly different this term. Below are the days each week the children will be doing PE:
W/C 17th April – Monday 17th (PPA) & Wednesday 19th April
W/C 24th April – Wednesday 26th April
W/C 1st May – No Monday PE (school closed due to Bank Holiday) & Wednesday 3rd May
W/C 8th May – Wednesday 10th May
W/C 15th May – Monday 15th May (PPA) & Wednesday 17th May
W/C 22nd May – Wednesday 24th May (France Residential for some pupils)
On PE days, children may come to school in their PE uniform which consists of their red Kelvin Grove school jumper or cardigan, a plain white t-shirt (round neck or polo), grey or black tracksuit bottoms and trainers.
Morning Breaktime Snacks:
We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents/carers that Kelvin Grove is a ‘Healthy School’ and we strongly encourage children to bring a nutritious snack for morning break so they have the opportunity to eat something that will sustain them until lunchtime. We appreciate your support with ensuring that your children have something healthy to eat at school.
Thank you.
