Gold class have been extremely busy this week! In English we have been looking at our non fiction text ” Can we save the Tiger?” and we have been making timelines of all the animals that have become extinct. We have have been learning how to write persuasively and use our “bossy” (imperative) verbs to convince people that we should be trying to stop animals from becoming extinct.
In maths we have been finding 10, 100, and 1000 more or less of different numbers. In these lessons we have been focusing on our practical skills to make maths more fun and it is really helping with our understanding.
In D.T. we have been designing survival shelters that can withstand our ever changing English weather! In our plans we have labelled and thought very carefully about which materials we could find outside and what would be the best to use. We can’t wait to start building them in the Forest School next week.
And in art this term we have been looking at different methods of making marks through drawing and painting. This week’s lesson was very messy! We looked at lots of different ways of creating abstract art and tried some scrape painting. For this we had to tape our paper to the table and then used card or palette knives to scrape the paint across the page in different ways. We really enjoyed this process and had the most fun adding paint splatters at the end. Some of our paintings are finished pieces and some we will use next week for collage materials.
