RE: NETHERCOTT FARM TRIP – Monday 22nd April – Friday 26th April 2024
We are writing to you about the school journey that we are organising for Year 5 pupils. We have booked a week at Nethercott Farm in Devon from Monday 22nd April to Friday 26th April 2024.
Nethercott is part of the ‘Farms for City Children’ project, initially set up by the writer Michael Morpurgo. The organising charity has been in operation for many years and we have been fortunate to have had many successful trips there. The experience at Nethercott is highly educational, filled with farming adventures and enrichment activities in rich countryside. Children live as farmers for the week, tending the animals and observing the two farmers at work. You can visit the FFCC website on www.farmsforcitychildren.org
The price of the journey is approximately £300.00 for four nights (the actual costs is over £600, much of which is subsidised by the Farm’s charity & Kelvin Grove). This price includes transport by coach and full board. A small amount of pocket money will be needed for the Nethercott shop. A reduced price will be offered to families eligible for pupil premium. After we gauge initial interest, we will provide more details regarding cost and payment plans.
Nethercott is able to accommodate 39 children per visit. Once the school has gauged initial interest, we will send out a further letter to take a deposit. The school will allocate places to confirm which pupils are attending and we withhold the right to withdraw or not allocate places to children whose behavioural needs may pose a risk to themselves or others.
