Dear Year 2 parents,

RE: Saffron Trip to the London Transport Museum

As part of this term’s topic ‘Moving with the Times’, looking at changes in transport in London, we will be going to visit The London Transport Museum. We will be using the artefacts in the museum to answer our depth enquiry question: ‘How has transport in London changed over time?’.

Year 2 classes will be going on different days. Saffron class will be going on Wednesday 6^th December 2023. We will walk to Sydenham station, take the train to London Bridge and change trains to Charing Cross. We will walk from Charing Cross station to The London Transport Museum. We will return to school before the end of the school day. If our return is delayed for any reason, the school office will contact you via text message. 

On the day of the trip, we will be leaving school at 9am. So that we are organised for a prompt departure, please ensure that your child is in school by 8.40am. If your child is late, they will miss the trip.

The children will be doing a lot of walking during the day and will need to wear full school uniform and trainers or appropriate walking footwear (please no sandals, wellies or open shoes). Children will need to bring a waterproof and warm coat with a hood. They will also need to bring a small rucksack so that they can carry their lunch, as well as a refillable water bottle.

For this trip to go ahead, we will need at least three parent helpers per class. If you are able to support with looking after children on the trip, please let your child’s teacher know as soon as possible.

There is no cost to parents for this trip. There is no requirement for schools to ask parental permission for trips that take place within the school day. However if you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak to your child’s class teacher.

If you would like your child to take a free school packed lunch on the trip, you must complete the online form below by Monday 20^th November. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food. It will not be possible to order lunch after this date and you will have to provide a packed lunch from home instead.

If you are not planning to order a packed lunch for your child, please provide one from home on the day of the trip.
