Dear Parents and Carers,

World Book Day at Kelvin Grove is on Thursday 7^th March 2024 this year. This letter is to inform you about the learning and activities planned to mark this fun and important event.

On World Book Day, children will be invited to dress up if they want to. They can either dress up as a character from their favourite book, or they could bring in an accessory which is linked to their favourite book – for example bringing in a wand for the book Room on the Broom. Children could simply bring in their favourite book to talk about.

Paired reading
As we do every year, older children will visit a class of younger children to share a favourite book together. This has always been a favourite part of the day and will, as always, be captured in pictures on our website.

Assemblies
We will hold special World Book Day assemblies to celebrate storytelling and reading for pleasure.

Get Caught Reading
During the week of World Book Day, a photograph will be posted daily on the website and social media of a member of our KG Community caught reading. We would like to encourage parents and carers to send in, tweet, email etc photographs of your family reading one of their favourite books at home in a comfy spot.
