Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Chartwells Poster Design Competition – Bee Ready
As part of Chartwell’s ‘Bee Happy’ campaign, this term they launched their third theme, Bee Ready.
The focus throughout this term is on getting ready for the hibernating bumblebees which emerge in the spring. Rising temperatures awaken those bees that have been hibernating underground during the winter months, using up vital reserves of energy stored as fat in their bodies. When the bees first emerge, they need to feed on flowers, drinking nectar to gain energy.
This is where the children can help! Creating a buzz with Chartwell’s competition.
They would like children to design a 3D flower garden poster, showing what hungry bees can feast on when they come out of hibernation. They can use the A4 poster template to draw their design, and then make it 3D by adding bits of material, paper, wood, card, buttons, or anything else they have to hand to bring it to life! There will be two winners in each school, both receiving a certificate and a flower garden starter kit for their classroom. Along with their classmates, the children can nurture the flowers and watch them grow – inside to start with, and then the pots can be popped outside from April onwards for the hungry bees. Poster sheets have been handed out today, and a winner will be picked on our return after the half-term holiday.
All children from Year 2 – Year 6 are welcome to enter a design.
Please return all submissions to your child’s class teacher or directly into the school office by Friday 23rd February 2024. Winners will be announced shortly after.
Thank you and Good luck!
Miss Gibbs
