Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Sky Arts Access Week Painting Birds Competition
Sky Arts are having an open competition to feature pupil’s artwork in a very special episode of their show ‘Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir’ that will broadcast on Sky Arts during arts week (17th – 21st June 2024).
To celebrate our British birds, Sky Arts are challenging pupils to create a picture of a bird, in whatever material they choose. The school will post entries on social media and send them in to Sky Arts, and then Jim and Nancy will select their favourites to feature in the show.
Over half term, pupils could paint a bird they’ve spotted in the wild, or seen while playing in the park or garden, you might even have a feathered friend who visits a tree outside your house regularly. We want pupils to look for shapes, textures and colours on their local feathered friends and find creative ways to capture them through art. Remember this can be done as a painting, collage, drawing or any other medium they choose.
For this competition we will need a consent form to be signed when an entry is submitted. These can be downloaded below and returned with your child’s submission or you can collect one from the office.
Please return all submissions to your child’s class teacher or directly into the school office by Wednesday 6th March 2024.
We look forward to seeing your creations!
Miss Gibbs
