We need your help!
We would appreciate any donations of garden woodchip, compost and plants/seeds/bulbs to enhance our Growing topic outdoors – thank you in advance!
Grass Heads
Your child will be bringing home their Grass Heads. Please encourage them to look after it, talking about the importance of water and light for the seeds to grow. Once the grass has grown, please bring it back to Nursery so that they can share it with their friends. Happy Growing!
Reading at home
Thank you for your continued support in making this an enjoyable experience for your child. The children are always excited to choose a book on a Thursday to take home and share with their family!
Early Reading
In Nursery we teach pre-reading skills using the Little Wandle Foundations for Phonics programme. Our aim is to ensure that the children are well prepared to begin more systematic phonics teaching at the start of Reception. Currently, your child is participating in a variety of activities that are aimed to develop focused listening and attention skills. These are fundamental to developing an awareness of sound. As well as our weekly rhymes, we are also playing daily ‘tuning into sound’ games. Children will be introduced to a letter sound each week. This half-term, we will be covering r,h,b,f,l,j. At this stage we only introduce the sounds, not their associated letters. Formal letter/sound correspondences are taught in Reception.
Up and Coming Nursery Events
Easter Bonnet Parade – We will be having an Easter Bonnet parade, during the last week of term. We would like parents to help their child make one. If you need any resources, please come and ask. (More information to follow nearer to the time)
Thank you for your continued support!
