Dear Year 6 parents and carers,
RE: Young V&A Museum Trip – March 2024
To end the learning of our topic this term: ‘Land of the Rising Sun’, Year 6 are visiting the Young V&A Museum on:
– Tuesday 19th March 2024 (Brass & Copper classes)
– Monday 25th March 2024 (Bronze class).
The children will have an opportunity to explore the exciting and atmospheric world of Japan. We will visit the exhibition Japan: Myths to Manga, with interactive elements where they will delve into how landscape and folklore have influenced Japanese art, popular culture, technology and design.
There is no cost for this trip.
We will be leaving school promptly at 8:45 am, taking the Overground from Sydenham Station to Whitechapel and then taking a bus to the Young V&A Museum. Please note the change in time. Due to the timings of the booked workshop we will need to catch an earlier train. Please ensure that your child is in school by 8:30 am as we are unable to wait for latecomers. We hope to be back by the end of the school day, but if delayed we will inform you by text message.
There is no requirement for schools to ask parental permission for trips that take place within the school day. However, if you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak to your child’s class teacher.
If you would like to pre-order a FREE school packed lunch for this trip, you must complete the online form below by Thursday 7th March 2024. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food.
Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or NUTS (due to pupil allergies). Lunch needs to be fully disposable and in a named carrier bag.
Your child will need to wear school uniform, school shoes and a waterproof coat.
Thank you for your continued support
Miss West, Miss Horgan and Miss Hudson.
