Dear Year 2 Parents/Carers,
RE: Y2 Trip to Beckenham Place Park
As part of next term’s topic ‘Soil, Seeds and Sunshine’, looking at living things and their habitats, we will be going to visit Beckenham Place Park. The children will be identifying, naming and comparing different trees and other garden and wild plants and looking at their habitats. They will participate in a session led by one of the education team based at the park.
- Cinnamon Class & Saffron Class will be going on Tuesday 23rd April.
- Ochre Class will be going on Tuesday 30th April.
We will be taking two buses (202 & 181) from the school to the park in Beckenham. Please make sure that your child is not late for school as we will be leaving soon after registration. We will return to school before the end of the school day.
The children should wear full school uniform and bring a waterproof and warm coat. We recommend that they wear trousers, rather than skirts, as they may have time to do some climbing in the playground. The children will be doing a lot of walking during the day and will need to wear appropriate shoes. Trainers are best if it’s dry, but if it’s wet, wellies/waterproof walking shoes may be better as we will be walking on grass and in woods. Children will need to bring a refillable water bottle and a small rucksack so that they can carry their own lunch.
There is no requirement for schools to ask parental permission for trips that take place within the school day. However, if you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak to your child’s class teacher.
For this trip to go ahead we will need a few parent helpers. Please let your class teacher know if you are available and would like to help.
There is no cost for this trip. If you would like to pre-order a FREE school packed lunch for this trip, you must complete the online form below by Monday 15th April 2024. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food.
Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or NUTS (due to pupil allergies). Lunch needs to be fully disposable and in a named carrier bag.
