Dear Parents/Carers,
RE: Year 6 Trip to Frylands Wood 21st May
On Tuesday 21st May, the Year 6 pupils who are not going to France will be going on a school trip to Frylands Wood. This is a scout centre which focuses on outdoor adventure, managed in a way which encourages and enables as many young people as possible to enjoy and experience the benefits of the natural environment.
On the day, the pupils will be engaging in four different activities in groups of 12. These include climbing a traverse wall (climbing along a wall rather than up high) and team building exercises like working as a group to build a barrel cart and ride on it across a field.
Children do not need to wear school uniform but do need to wear comfortable, outdoor clothes and trainers which they do not mind getting dirty. The Centre advises that long hair is tied back and please no jewellery other than stud earrings. This is for safety reasons.
We will be eating a packed lunch at a campsite in the woods. Please make sure your child brings a water bottle.
There is no cost for this trip. If you would like to pre-order a FREE school packed lunch, you must complete the online form below by Friday 3rd May. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food.
Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or NUTS (due to pupil allergies). Lunch needs to be fully disposable and in a named carrier bag.
We will be traveling by coach and this will leave Kelvin Grove at 8:45am. As we are leaving promptly, please could pupils arrive at school at 8:25am. The coach will have to leave at 8:45am so it is very important to be on time.
The Paxton gates will be opened early and pupils will be able to go straight to class to be registered and ready to leave on time.
Please sign the parental permission slip on the form below for your child to attend the trip. We should be back at school by 3:30pm at the latest. If you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak with Miss Magee.
Thank you,
Miss Magee
