Dear Year 4 parents and carers,
RE: Year 4 – Multiplication Check 2024
Your child will be participating in the national Year 4 multiplication tables check after half term the week beginning Monday 3rd June.
The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics.
The check is completed online and consists of 25 times table questions. During the check, your child will complete some practice questions before taking the actual check. They will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. The Year 4 team will administer the check in school and during the normal school day. Please see the parent information booklet linked below.
Since September, your child has been learning and practising times tables in class, online and at home (using Times Tables Rock Stars) so you do not need to do anything additional to prepare your child for the check.
Here are a few links which children can access and continue to practice their timetables if they wish too.
The school will share your child’s result with you by the end of the year. There is no pass mark but the results of the check will be used to help the school plan support for children when they are in year 5.
If you have any questions about the check, please speak to a member of the year 4 team.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs Lafinhan, Miss Januario and Mrs Legouix
