This term, our topic is ‘Painting on Walls’. In History, we have been learning about a different time period each week. So far, we have researched about cave paintings from the Stone Age, as well as the paintings on walls and ceilings in tombs from Ancient Egypt. Mr Gough has told us that next week we will be learning about Ancient Greek wall paintings. By the end of this term, we will have created a non-fiction text about painting on walls throughout history which we will then use to create a website using Google Sites.
In English, we have recently finished ‘Love that Dog’ which is a narrative poem about a boy called Jack who doesn’t like poems at the beginning of the text. He is very stereotypical and says that poetry if for girls, but through the support of his teacher and the advice that she gives him, he learns to love poetry. It’s a short but emotional piece! We had a go at writing our own narrative poem about a personal memorable experience.
We branched out to tricker problems in Maths, this week we have moved on to learning about decimals and calculating equivalent fractions and decimals (tenths and hundredths).
Computing has also been really cool! We have been learning about animation. In our last lesson, we were using an app called Stop Motion and exploring taking still images, to then playing them quickly in sequence to create a short animation. It’s a long process to achieve even a short clip and we can’t wait to improve our techniques next lesson.
