Friday 24th May 2024
Dear Year 2 Parents/Carers,
During this term’s topic, ‘Near and Far’, the children will be comparing our local area with Mombasa, in Kenya. As part of the topic, we will be going for a walk in the local area on Friday 14th June.
The walk will enable the children to look at some human and physical features of the local area, as part of our geography topic. We will walk up to the Horniman Museum gardens to look at the view, down London Road into Forest Hill and then along Dartmouth Road and back to school.
When we are in the Horniman Gardens, the children will also be talking to the sky as part of their English lessons. This will become clearer nearer the time!
We will be leaving school straight after morning registration, so please ensure that your child is not late to school. We will arrive back at school before lunch so there will be no changes to the normal lunch arrangements on the day.
The children should wear full school uniform. Please make sure that your child comes prepared for the weather on the day, i.e. if it is hot, they should bring a water bottle that they can carry comfortably themselves. If rain is likely, they should bring a raincoat.
For this trip to go ahead we will need a few parent helpers. Please let your class teacher know if you are available and would like to help.
Thank you for your continued support.
The Year 2 Team
