Dear Parents/Carers of Year 3,
RE: Year 3 trip to a Stone Age Experience at Devonshire Road Nature Reserve
As part of our History topic on the Stone Age, Year 3 will be going to Devonshire Road Nature Reserve on Tuesday 8th October 2024 (Jade am) /Wednesday 9th October 2024 (Mint am/ Emerald pm). Whilst there, children will explore the nature reserve and attend a workshop about life in the Stone Age.
The children will be working alongside an expert from the Devonshire Road staff – making Stone Age tools, Stone Age bread, cooking over a fire, grinding wheat and learning about Stone Age medicine. It promises to be a very informative and interactive session where children will be learning through practical experience and talk.
We will be walking to and from the nature reserve, which takes approximately thirty minutes each way. Children will need to wear school uniform, but may wear trainers. They will also need to bring a water bottle and be prepared for the weather (e.g raincoat). We will be leaving at 9am and will eat our lunch there. We will return before the end of the school day.
The cost for this trip is £5 per child. Please pay on SCOPAY TRIPS & EVENTS.
There is no requirement for schools to ask parental permission for trips that take place within the school day. However, if you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak to your child’s class teacher.
If you would like to pre-order a free school packed lunch for this trip, you must complete the online form below by Monday 23rd September 2024. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food. Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or nuts (due to pupil allergies).
Please let your class teacher know if you would be available to support a group on this trip.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Legouix, Mrs Heron-Njie, and Mrs Clark
