Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Year 1 Toys and Puppets around the world Workshop
To consolidate learning on our ‘Toys R Us’ topic, Year 1 will visit Horniman Museum to take part in an educational workshop.
Apricot Class workshop – Thursday 5th December 2024
The children will have the opportunity to explore the mechanisms, materials, and uses of toys: from a Zimbabwean push-along drummer, to a Russian pendulum toy, to Guatemalan worry dolls, and use a transforming doll to tell the story of Little Red Riding Hood together.
We will be walking to the museum and back so please make sure that your child brings a waterproof coat, a hat and gloves if it is cold. Children should wear the shoes that they normally wear to school, provided they are sturdy and comfortable.
There is no requirement for schools to ask parental permission for trips that take place within the school day. However, if you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak to your child’s class teacher.
The children will be having their lunch as normal before leaving for the trip so there are no special arrangements with regards to lunch and children will have their usual choices.
The trip costs £4.00 per child and payment can be paid via SCOPAY.
Please make payments by Tuesday 10th December.
Thank you,
The Year 1 Team
