Dear Parent/Carer of a Year 2 pupil,
RE: Y2 Trip to Vauxhall City Farm
Our topic in Spring 1 is ‘Animals and Me’ and all Y2 classes will be learning about living things and their habitats. As part of this topic, we will be visiting Vauxhall City Farm on the following dates:
Cinnamon Class- Tuesday 28th January 2025
Saffron Class- Wednesday 29th January 2025
This trip will support the children’s understanding of animals and their habitats including micro-habitat. It will also allow children to learn about how animals obtain their food from plants and other animals, using the idea of a simple food chain.
We will walk to Forest Hill Station, take the 185 bus to Vauxhall Bus Garage and then walk to Vauxhall City Farm. We will return to school before the end of the school day. If our return is delayed we will contact you via text message.
Please ensure that your child is in school on time by 8.45am in order to be registered, use the toilets, and be ready to leave the building promptly. We are unable to wait for latecomers.
The cost of the visit to Vauxhall City Farm is £5.00 which can be paid via SCOPAY / TRIPS & EVENTS. This will cover a staff-led 90-minute habitat workshop and a meet and feed the animals session.
The children will be doing a lot of walking during the day and will need to wear full school uniform and trainers or appropriate walking footwear (please no sandals or wellies!).
Children will need to bring a waterproof and warm coat with a hood. They will also need to bring a small rucksack so that they can carry their lunch, as well as a refillable water bottle. The children will eat their packed lunch in a lunch room at Vauxhall City Farm.
There is no requirement for schools to ask parental permission for trips that take place within the school day. However, if you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak to your child’s class teacher.
If you would like to pre-order a FREE school packed lunch for this trip, you must complete the online form below by Tuesday 14th January 2025. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food.
Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should not contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or nuts (due to pupil allergies). Lunch needs to be fully disposable and in a named carrier bag.
On this occasion, we will not be needing parent helpers.
Thank you for your continued support.
