Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: The Fourth Plinth Schools Award 2025
With the success of previous years giving us two winners at Kelvin Grove, we are delighted to be participating in the Mayor of London’s Fourth Plinth Schools Awards 2025.
In the competition, school children in both Primary and Secondary across London are invited to create a work of art inspired by the contemporary art commissions for Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth. It’s a fantastic opportunity for children to get creative and there are some great prizes to be won. There are winner and runner-up prizes for different age categories: 5-7 years and 8-11 years, as well as prizes for the best work from each borough. There will also be a presentation ceremony at new City Hall and all winning entries will appear in an exhibition in late spring. We would like as many pupils as possible to join in with this competition.
Designs should be completely original and can take inspiration from London; the people, the city, the monuments etc. Artworks featuring any copyrighted materials can not be accepted.
Pupils will need to include a title with their design and a short description about their piece. Works can be in any medium, 2D or 3D. You can find a template attached to this letter for children to use with their drawn submissions if they prefer. Spare copies can be collected from the main office, or downloaded here:
Updated: The deadline has been extended! Please return all submissions to the office or to Miss Gibbs directly by Friday 14th March 2025.
Thank you and Good luck!
Miss Gibbs
