Wow! What a full-on week we had celebrating Children’s Mental Health! This year every class took part in the same activities promoting self-awareness and emotional well-being. Classes looked at characters from Pixar’s Inside Out 2 to explore our different emotions and how important it is to feel all of those emotions – even the ones you don’t enjoy! We painted star magnets featuring our chosen emotion inspired by the Inside Out 2 characters. It was great to see all our class emotions all together at the end too!
Our other creative venture was making badges and rosettes about some of our achievements we are really proud of. We talked about and shared a our achievements with classmates and teachers before learning how to construct a rosette to showcase our best skills!
In between all the creativity we held class discussions and circle times talking about what good mental health is and how important it is to look after. We learnt all the names for our different emotions and how they sometimes link together. We shared ways we had for winding down and how friends, family and our teachers can help us.
