Dear Parents/Carers,
RE: Important Update – School Closure Due to Water Supply Issues
We sincerely apologise for the disruption caused by today’s school closure. This is due to an ongoing issue with the local water supply, which has affected several schools and residents in the area. Thames Water is actively working to resolve the problem, but updates have been limited, and the scale of the disruption is significant.
Unfortunately, without access to running water, we face several challenges that make it unsafe to keep the school open. We are unable to provide drinking water for students and staff, the toilets cannot be flushed, and there are no facilities for proper handwashing, which is especially important at this time of year when colds and viruses are going around. In addition, the school kitchen cannot safely prepare meals, meaning we are unable to provide school lunches. These factors create a significant health and safety concern, leaving us with no choice but to close the school today.
We are aware that many of you are currently struggling without water at home too.
At the moment you should assume that school will be open as usual tomorrow unless you hear otherwise from us. Thames water have indicated that they expect the situation to be resolved later today but this is not yet confirmed.
I will aim to update you all by the end of the day and again tomorrow morning.
Please check for updates before calling school as you can imagine how busy our phones are when these situations occur.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this unexpected situation and will keep you informed as soon as we receive further updates.
