Year 5 had an amazing visit to the Young V&A Museum, where we explored the Making Egypt exhibition as part of our Topic Launch. It was so interesting to see real artefacts up close, we enjoyed seeing the sarcophagus and real shabti’s. There were many interactive parts to the exhibit which taught us a lot about the Egyptian Gods, and we even completed a quiz to find out which God matched our personality.

Our last task in the exhibition was a mission from the God of the Underworld, Osiris, to find his missing limbs!
We also cracked the mysteries of hieroglyphs and discovered how ancient Egyptian myths have influenced modern culture, including some of their favourite Marvel and DC characters like Moon Knight and Shazam, and games like Minecraft!
Outside the exhibition, we explored technologies and toys from the Victorian era to today, and even played different games in the arcade gallery. Navigating Monument Valley’s topsy turvy world of stairs (inspired by M. C. Escher’s artwork Relativity) was a fast favourite, as well as exploring the Young V&A brought to life in Minecraft!
Lilac Class were lucky enough to visit the Young V&A on Thursday during official World Book Day and joined in on the Imagine Gallery Stage for an active storytelling session!
