Friday 2nd May 2025
Dear Parents/Carers,
RE: Year 6 Trip to Frylands Wood 23rd May, 2025
On Friday 23rd May, the Year 6 pupils who are not going to France will be going on a school trip to Frylands Wood. This is a scout centre that focuses on outdoor adventure, managed in a way which encourages and enables as many young people as possible to enjoy and experience the benefits of the natural environment.
On the day, the pupils will be engaging in four different activities in small groups led by an instructor. These include climbing, team building, shelter building and archery. Children do not need to wear school uniform but do need to wear comfortable, outdoor clothes and trainers which they do not mind getting dirty. The Centre advises that long hair is tied back and please no jewellery other than stud earrings. This is for safety reasons.
We will be eating a packed lunch at a campsite in the woods. Please make sure your child brings a named water bottle.
There is no cost for this trip. If you would like to pre-order a FREE school packed lunch, you must complete the online form below by Friday 9th May. This is to ensure that the kitchen staff have sufficient time to order in the correct food. Alternatively, you can provide your child with a home-made healthy packed lunch which should NOT contain fizzy drinks, sweets, or NUTS (due to pupil allergies). Lunch needs to be fully disposable and in a named carrier bag.
We will be traveling by coach. The coach will leave at 9:00am so it is very important to be on time.
We will aim to leave Frylands Wood at 4pm and should be back at school between 4:30pm and 5:00pm – this is very much dependent on the traffic. Please indicate on the permission slip whether you would like your child to walk home by themselves from Kelvin Grove, or whether you will be collecting them.
Please sign the parental permission slip on the form below for your child to attend the trip. If you have any concerns about your child attending this trip please speak with a member of the Year 6 team.
Thank you,
Mr Gough
