Monday 19th May 2025
Dear Parents/Carers,
RE: Nethercott Farm Visit – Monday 2nd June – Friday 6th June 2025
With the trip coming up in two weeks, we wanted to send a final reminder with key details previously shared in meetings and letters. Please note we are also sharing new information from Nethercott Farm regarding media consent for their use.
Packing, Pocket Money & Wellies
At our last meeting, we reviewed what children need to pack and what to expect from the trip. A full packing checklist can be found in the letters sent earlier this term (available here). If you wish to provide pocket money, please ensure it is handed in by Wednesday, 21st May in a named envelope or wallet at the School Office.
Departure & Journey
On Monday morning we depart (Monday 2nd June), children should arrive at school no earlier than 5:30 AM. You should come with your children to the Main Entrance, where we will gather in the Main Hall for registration, hand over of any medication, and final checks. Staff will begin loading the coach as soon as possible, and we will depart promptly at 6:00AM. The journey will include two rest stops, and children will need a packed lunch for the second stop. Please note that no additional food is needed apart from this packed lunch.
We expect to arrive at Nethercott Farm around 1:30 PM.
Daily Schedule & Activities
The trip will be led by Mrs Heron-Njie, with support from other Kelvin Grove Staff, who will oversee the children. During their stay, children will be divided into three groups, each led by a member of staff. The daily schedule includes farm duties in the morning, throughout the day, and in the early evening. There will also be time for leisure, sporting, and academic activities.
Communication & Updates
We understand that parents/carers will be eager for updates. A daily update will be sent via text or email, similar to previous trips (see an example here). These updates will typically arrive in the late afternoon, depending on when staff can send them to the School Office.
At the end of the trip, we will share a private album containing all photos taken. Due to WiFi and signal limitations at the farm, we will not be able to provide a live album during the trip.
Nethercott Media Consent
Farms for City Children and Nethercott Farm have made some updates to the way they collect consent to take photos and videos of children visiting the farm. Having photos and videos of children visiting the farm really helps them communicate their work as a charity. If you give consent for your child/ren to have their image or photo taken by Farms for City Children staff or approved photographers, (not Kelvin Grove Staff) please could you complete this short, online media consent form here:
https://form.jotform.com/Farms_marketing/media-consent-form-summer-term-25
Please note this consent form goes directly to Farms for City Children and we will not be able to see it. This is not the same as the School’s photo consent, and is solely for Nethercott Farm.
Further Information
If you have any additional questions or need further clarification, please contact the School Office, and we will be happy to assist.
We look forward to a fantastic trip!
Best wishes,
Mrs. Heron-Njie and the Nethercott Team
