Year 5 arrived safely at Nethercott Farm and are already embracing life in the countryside! After a smooth journey yesterday, the children spent their first afternoon settling into the farmhouse and getting to know their surroundings. They began their farm experience by meeting some of the animals, starting with feeding and caring for the horses, which was a gentle and fun introduction to their new responsibilities.

Later in the day, there was plenty of time to unwind and enjoy the beautiful grounds around the house. The children made the most of their free time, playing games, exploring the gardens, and enjoying each other’s company in the fresh Devon air.
After a delicious, hearty dinner, everyone was ready for bed and we’re pleased to report that our first night’s sleep went brilliantly! This morning, we got straight back to it with a busy start to our first full day on the farm. The children have been getting stuck in, tending to the, chickens, pigs, cows and horses, learning the routines, and experiencing the rewarding (and sometimes muddy!) realities of working farm life.
We’re looking forward to more animal encounters, new skills, and plenty of fresh air as the week continues!
