Dear Parent/Carer,
Re: Use of Google Earth in Geography Lessons – Parental Information and Opt-Out Option
As part of our Geography curriculum across all year groups, pupils will have opportunities to explore atlases, maps, and digital mapping tools to support their understanding of the world around them. This includes the use of Google Earth, an interactive application that allows children to explore global geography in an engaging and visual way.
Please be assured that pupils’ only access Google Earth and other Google services through our school’s Google Workspace for Education. This platform is secure, and all activity is managed and monitored by the school to ensure a safe and appropriate learning environment.
Google Earth provides a safe and educational experience when used under supervision, and all sessions will be led and monitored by teaching staff. However, as Google requires parental consent for children under the age of 18 to use its services, we are providing this information and offering you the opportunity to opt out of its use. If you are happy for your child to use Google Earth during Geography lessons, no action is needed. Should you prefer that your child does not use Google Earth, please confirm this on the form here by Thursday 26th June and we will ensure they are given suitable alternative resources.
Rest assured that any child not using Google Earth will continue to receive a full and inclusive learning experience.
Thank you for your continued support.
