Dear Parent/Carer of Year 5 pupil,

RE: African Storytelling and Dance Day – Thursday 18^th September 2025

We hope you and your family had a restful summer.  Year 5 pupils are settling well in their new classrooms and enjoying their first few days of learning.  We are starting the year with a topic about Africa and have a fantastic event planned for the children. 

As part of the launch for this term’s topic ‘Into Africa’, an exciting event has been arranged for the children.  All children in Y5 will have the opportunity to work with IROKO, an African storytelling production and workshop company based in London. The children will experience an interactive performance and two workshops focusing on dance and storytelling which will take place over the course of the school day, broadening their understanding of African cultures and traditions.

Photographs of the day will be posted on the school website after the event.

The contribution for this is £5 per child. Please pay via SCOPAY. Although the workshop is next Thursday, we have extended payment deadline to give families time to pay. Please make your payment contribution by Thursday 2^nd October.
