We’ve been super scientists in Year 2 this week! In our Materials topic, we wanted to find out which materials are absorbent and which are waterproof.
We set up our investigation with trays of water to test our ideas. We gathered lots of different materials like paper towels, wooden lolly sticks, foil, and bits of plastic. We made predictions about what would happen and then, the best part… we got to put them into the water!
It was so much fun watching the water soak right into the tissue, but it was amazing to see it just roll off the foil and plastic. The foil even floated! We learned why we use certain materials for certain jobs (you wouldn’t want a raincoat made of paper!) and we loved recording our results like real scientists.
